Morning Psalm

Oratio (prayer)
Lord God, You are worthy of all praise. Send Your Holy Spirit as I pray Psalm 150 this morning, that with all Your saints in heaven and on earth I may praise You through Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Meditatio (meditation)
Psalm 150
1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
Consider even rereading in another translation.
You could also consider listening to this chapter, narrated:
KJV (Max McLean) · ESV (Max McLean) · NIV (dramatized)
You might read the whole reading slowly, aloud, more than once.
Consider this verse, for example:
“Praise him for his mighty acts” (Psalm 150:2)
What other lines speak to you?
The Law The Psalm calls "every thing that hath breath" (v. 6) to praise the LORD. Yet we spend the breath He gives on complaint and on our own glory. Our praise is often half-hearted, or silent.
The Gospel God has given us every reason to praise. We "Praise him for his mighty acts" (v. 2), and His mightiest act is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for you. In Him the whole Church, the saints above and the saints below, sings one song. "Praise God in his sanctuary" (v. 1), where He gives His gifts in Word and Sacrament.
Prayer Lord, I confess that my breath has often gone to complaint instead of praise. Forgive me for Jesus' sake. Open my lips, and let my mouth show forth Your praise with all Your saints. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Tentatio (trial)
Some days praise does not come easily. The Psalm does not wait for our feelings. It simply says, "Praise ye the LORD" (v. 6). Under trial it may help to join the Church's song even when your own voice is weak, trusting that the saints and angels are singing with you.
Prayer Lord, when my heart is heavy, let me still praise You. Join my weak voice to the song of all Your saints. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Scripture quotations are from the King James Version.
