Patriot Ancestors
"Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." —Luke 8:39
I salute all of our ancestors who served to gain our independence, including James Dinsmore, Sr., a Second Lt. Additionally, other ancestors such as Richard Boyce, the Lesnett family including father Christian and his sons who homesteaded and served in the revolutionary war and to protect their neighbors.
A celebrated ancestor of mine is Elizabeth Gilmore-Berry, who is from my lineage here in the local Washington County/Allegheny County Gilmore-Donaldson line of my family... She served as a nurse at Valley Forge, PA who carried a rifle during her service. Her spouse and her bought their land from George Washington! You can hear the DAR podcast about her below.
Recorded Stories about my maternal great grandparents
Thanksgiving 2025, I interviewed and recorded my mother to capture some of her earliest childhood memories about her maternal and paternal grandparents. There's a cute story about her as a young child helping her paternal grandmother Ida Dinsmore in the kitchen. Unfortunately, I was new to using my DJI device and had a storage card that was a bit slow. There's a gap and sync issue with the sound and video, but the sound is intact. I put some imagery with the applications I used to help process the video to fill the sync issue.
I hope to make more recordings of my parents to capture their stories and to gather more family information for posterity.
